I found an England census record from 1861, which shows John Donohoe, a shoemaker, aged 39 years, living in Manchester, but born in Ireland. His household included his wife Ann (age 38), son John (age 4), both born in Ireland, and daughter Mary Ann (age 2 months), born in Manchester. I am not sure where they lived before emigrating to Manchester, but Ann was born in Dublin, so my guess is that they were all from there. I am hoping to find more definite evidence of that, preferably actual birth records that might lead to his parents information. John died while bringing the family to America in 1865, so I have found fewer records pertaining to him than for the rest of the family, who left paper trails in the new world.
