Clayton Lexton Dennis, Sr. (496)

I had come across the name of O’donoghue and O’donaghue recently at a Celtic Festival in Radford Virginia. While researching the name Dennis and Dennison and Dennistoun. Also I have come across possible leaks to the Clan MacLeoad in Northern Scotland. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Patrick Michael O’Donnoghue (493)

Early research indicates: Patrick Michael O’Donnoghue came to Washington, D.C. (year unk.) had a son Dennis (one child known)- John Harding (mother’s maiden name) and he had seven children- John (3 children), Norman, Margaret, Patricia, George (2 children), Eleanor, born 5/18/1914 and had 4 children)& Louise. Possibly, has any interest been made to this family?
Thank you for your time.

Margaret O’Donoghue (492)

Margaret was the daughter of James & Margrett (nee Buckley) O’Donoghue of Bandon She was born 26th May 1888. Her brother Thomas, my Father, was born 29th May, 1892

Edward Donoghue (486)

The following information I found from the 1851 census of SIDNEY Township, ONATRIO, CANADA (although I have just started my research I believe I am a descendant of this family): Head of Household was Edward aged 47 born in Ireland, wife was Maria aged 45 (maiden name unknown) born in Ireland. They had 7 children and at that time all were single. The following four children were born in the US: Ann aged 20, Edward aged 18, Michael aged 16, John aged 13 (this is who I believe is my 2x grandfather). The following three children were all born in SIDNEY Township: Hannah aged 10, Elanor aged 8, and Maria aged 6. In addition, my grandfathers name was Edward John Donohue or Donahue. My grandfather was born approximately 1889 and was married twice. His first wife may of been a lady named Annie McCullough(although I am not positive) I do know he was married twice. His second wife my grandmother was Lena Sharkey. They were married on Oct 25, 1917 in MADOC, ONTARIO, CANADA. My fathers name is Donald Stafford Donahue and he was born on July 29, 1927 the youngest of six children. I am interested in finding out if in fact Edward Donoghue is a direct relative, where and when he arrived in North America, the maiden name of his wife, where in the US they were before coming to Canada. Based on the age of the children the earliest he could of arrived in North America was 1831, and the earliest he could of moved up to Canada was 1838. I am also interested in what part of Ireland both Edward and Maria came from, and any relatives these two people had. I can be contacted at michaeld@comnet.ca

Timothy Donahue (484)

It is unknown if Timothy Donahue came to the USA. His wife Bridget Meara b. 1812 in Ireland came to the USA. She lived in Waterbury, CT and died in 1879-1880. She had three children.
*Timothy Donahue b. btwn 1844-1849 in Ireland. m. Catherine Lynch in Waterbury, CT in 1873 d. 4/28/1895
**Stephen Donahue b. 1833? in Ireland m. Mary A. Kelly about 1870 d. 1/13/1920 in Waterbury or Middletown, CT
*** MaryAnn Donahue b. about 1846 in Ireland. Alive in 1870.

My major interest is to determine the name of the county and town where Timothy Donahue"Sr". and his wife Bridget Meara Donahue came from in Ireland. I have not found one record in the US that lists place of birth as anything other than Ireland. There is no oral history because my mothers father died when she was very young.

* Timothy Donahue married Catherine Lynch in Waterbury, CT
They had seven children. Bridget, Elizabeth, Frederick, Joseph, William, MaryJane, James

**Stephen Donahue married Mary A. Kelly. They had 3 daughters Mrs. John Gleason, Mrs. John Bushnell, and Mrs. Frank Bergin and 15 Grandchildren

Other descendant names include Brick, Murphy, Goulden, Lyons and others.

Please contact me if you have any information regarding the origins of this family. I am interested in joining but have already spent much time & money on research and would like to know if you have any clues that might be helpful. Thanks, Eileen

I feel like I am trying to find a needle in a haystack!

Donoghue or O’Donoghue Edward (483)

Edward arrived in the United States either in 1846 or 1848, depending on which document is regarded. He married Anastasia Hogan in Sangamon County, IL, and raised his family in Marion and Champaign Counties, IL. He was a Road Master for the Illinois/Chicago RailRoad for his entire career. He was born in August of 1829. I’d love to find out where he was from. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Best Regards, Cinda Marsh

Jeremiah O’Donoghue (482)

Jeremiah O’Donoghue is my wife’s grandfather who emigrated to the USA on 6/7/1913. He was born 13 February 1889 in Cahirbarnagh, Rathmore, Kerry to Daniel O’Donoghue and Johanna Keefe or O’Keefe. Jeremiah had two brothers – John and Patrick – and two sisters – Molly and Margaret – of which their American descendants know little if anything. It is believed that John & Patrick remained in Ireland, Molly moved to Hudson Falls, New York but then returned to Ireland, married Patrick Collins and died in Newmarket, County Cork – date unknown. Johanna O’Keefe had a sister Mary that emigrated to New York State about 1867. Nothing else is known of Johanne O’Keefe’s family or who Daniel O’Donoghue hails from.
